Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: Where Engineering Meets Oncology

The lecture topic “Cancer diagnosis and treatment: Where Engineering meets Oncology” presented by our valued member Dr. Seda Ghazaryan, PhD. was well attended, including several students as well as representatives from the healthcare profession.


The lecture briefly touched on cancer definition and history, research data of how many people are affected worldwide/US, what are the causes and sources, most curable and dreadful types, methods and technologies that are used to diagnose and treat patients and how those methods should be advanced throughout the years. Following this captivating presentation there was a lively discussion.


About the presenter: Seda Ghazaryan, PhD graduated from Yerevan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2002. Upon completion of her Master’s degree in Yerevan State University in 2004, she worked at the Hematology center with professor Yeolyan for one year. She received her PhD from the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg in 2009. Currently she is doing research in the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Cancer Center).
